Do I buy new or reupholster?
My husband is 6’5″. We own two swivel club chairs that get rave reviews when guests sit in them.
They fit the average person, and my husband is super comfortable in them as well.To make a long story very short, they have been reupholstered twice. And worth it both times.
I often encourage clients to reupholster when they have a connection to a piece, it was a beloved family members, or they have great memories from it.
Sometimes, it doesn’t make sense as it is not an inexpensive endeavor.
In the case of the chair in the photos, this client was going from a blue and peach palette to reds and golds. She shopped for chairs to replace her beloved wing chair and couldn’t find one that suited her the same way that one had. Of course, our fabric choices were endless, not being restricted to what the vendor was offering, so we had fun doing a different fabric on the front and back.
I am thrilled knowing she gets to love her chair and her newly refreshed décor!
